LAURA THOMPSON

SENIOR ADVISOR - SOUTH KING COUNTY

Growing up in the Midwest my favorite memories are of spending time with my grandparents, watching Lawrence Welk and old westerns with grandpa and helping grandma bake pecan pies and work in the garden with her beloved lilacs.  These experiences paved the foundation for the things that I still love to this day, cooking, gardening, seniors, old westerns, lilacs and pecan pie.

I have worked in the medical field all my adult life. I would always seek out the Senior patients as they were always my favorite. They had the best stories and made me laugh. This never changed as my career unfolded. I worked in emergency rooms, hospitals, doctor’s offices and most recently owned and operated a Chiropractic Wellness Clinic the last 12 years. Over those 12 years, I realized there was a significate need for helping people navigate the medical and insurance systems. I discovered that people facing these challenges needed guidance and a person they trusted to do that for them. I am that person.

Animals have always held a special place in my heart. In 2017 I started an animal sanctuary and 501(c)(3), Stevens Animal Sanctuary in Enumclaw with Dr. Heather Stewart, and Holly Moffatt. We take in sick and unwanted farm animals. An occasional dog and cat but we really do try to focus on farm animals because so many are discarded as they get older.
